In it's long history, the publication has only handed out 19 perfect 40/40. The 39/40 score puts Resident Evil 6 one point ahead of Re 5. Three of the four critics gave the game a perfect 10, while the last one gave it a 9.

One of the reviewers stated that the visuals were "flashy and really thrilling" and added that "you've got this feeling of dread as you and your partner proceed through some dark locale." Famitsu adds that there are new types of horror such as "people on the street turning into zombies one after the other."
The publication also notes that the enemies are tough and gamers will have to make important decision on whether to run or fight. This could indicate that it won't be as easy as unloading your gun on the undead and may require some strategy and ammo preservation found in earlier installments.
One of the other Famitsu reviewers praised the wealth of variety found in the campaigns and noted that "the heroes work at different aims, but they contact and fight alongside each other, which leads to some fun situations."
The lone defector was not as complimentary about the visuals horrors and complained about the darkness of the game. He added that even if the TV brightness is turned up, the game still looks to dark. He also adds that the screen shakes a lot and it could cause problems for some gamers.
The game releases on October 2 and the majority of the reviews will be live the day before.
