UPDATE: The ending has been spoiled for Resident Evil 6. Find out if Chris dies HERE.

Resident Evil 6 is just weeks away but speculation as to the game's ending and spoilers have been going on for months.

One popular rumor has been the death of major characters. Ada Wong is the first character whose death was more recently speculated about after Capcom released a list of achievements and called one "Ada's Demise." This and the arrival of an Ada clone known as Carla would indicate that Capcom will be killing off one its major antagonists.

But more pressing is the death of Chris Redfield, who seems like a popular target on the internet. While this is all speculation at this point, it is not hard to believe that Chris may in fact die at the end of this game. For over 10 years, Capcom had refused to get rid of major characters in the series but just a few years ago, Albert Wesker, the iconic villain of the franchise was destroyed in Resident Evil 5. But none of the major characters have yet to suffer death. Jill Valentine's demise was hinted at last time around but she was shown to be alive later on.

So why Chris? Chris has done everything. He survived the mansion incident that started franchise. Then he put Alexia to death, saved the Earth's waters from contamination and ended Wesker's global saturation scheme. He has done it all. And despite his best efforts, the world's danger continues to escalate. What more can Chris do as a hero to save the world that he trained and fought to save?

The cast of Resident Evil is getting rather large an unsustainable with such characters as Claire Redfield being taken out of the equation for quite some time. Jill has not been protagonist of a major Resident Evil title since RE 3 (even though she was a major character in 5) and the addition of Jake Muller makes him a likely candidate to take the franchise tag alongside Leon. Chris has seen more action than any other Resident Evil character and maybe his story is starting to run out of directions to go in.

Another major attribute that works in the argument for Chris' death is that he is a soldier. He is trained to do whatever is necessary in combat, even if that means sacrificing his life. In the latest trailer, a missile seems to be ready to destroy a city. Chris is in a plane with Piers Nievans and tells his allies to "get the hell out of there." Would Capcom pull a stunt like Chris Nolan pulled in "The Dark Knight Rises" and sacrifice the main hero's life to stop the explosion form destroying the town?

A lot of stories in the mainstream have settled for martyrdom (The Dark Knight Rises, The Matrix, Star Wars, etc.) and it seems that with the stakes at their all time high in RE 6, it seems unlikely that everyone survives. This is all speculation at this point, but Chris is currently on a lot of people's death list right.
