Google has been full of surprise moves recently, like when it announced that the next version of Android would be 4.4 and called KitKat, instead of Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie. In another surprising move, Google quietly put the LTE version of the second generation Nexus 7, or the Nexus 7 2, on sale at the Google Play store recently.

The Google Nexus 7 2 LTE is available straight from Google, and will ship in one to two business days. The price of the unlocked LTE Google Nexus 7 is about $350, but that comes with a T-Mobile 4G SIM card, bringing you a month of LTE data coverage (up to 2GB). Following that, since the LTE Google Nexus 7 is unlocked, and the 4G data is a no-obligation add-on, you can move to a different LTE carrier supported by the Google Nexus 7, which includes AT&T and Verizon.

The new Google Nexus 7 2 was introduced in late July as the follow up to Google's 2012 7-inch tablet, and it features several improvements. The ASUS-built tablet has a 7-inch screen that packs over 2.3 million pixels on the display, leading to Full High Definition 1920 x 1200p picture, with 323 pixels per inch. It is powered by a quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor with 2GB of RAM. The Google Nexus 7 runs Android 4.3 out of the box, which is the most up to date version of Android Jelly Bean right now.

The Google Nexus 7 2 has Wi-Fi, NFC, Bluetooth 4.0, and (of course) LTE support, over 700, 850, AWS and 1900 MHz bands. The LTE version of the Google Nexus 7 2 is only available in 32GB, making the price a little over $100 more than the base model of the new Google Nexus 7. However, you'll be able to stream a movie anywhere on that gorgeous display, so it may be worth it.
