The Google Nexus 7 2 is getting an update that will reportedly fix the touchscreen issues that some customers have been experiencing.

When Google unveiled and released the new second generation Google Nexus 7, or the Google Nexus 7 2, the tablet was greeted with almost universal acclaim. Except for some of the first buyers of the Google Nexus 7 2, who experienced an issue that made the tablet almost unusable at times. Now Google is rolling out an update to Android 4.3 on the Google Nexus 7 2 to fix it.

The issue - well known to Google Nexus 7 2 watchers for plaguing some owners - is the finicky multitouch display. Google's forums have been rife with complaints about the Google Nexus 7 2's screen constantly registering "phantom" double taps. For example, take Jason L's comment:

"I picked up my new N7 on Friday. At first the keyboard seemed okay, though it would occasionally register double presses on the keyboard. Now it has gotten progressively worse and the keyboard getting very erratic. It is frequently registering double taps, and often ghost taps in areas not anywhere near where I'm touching on the keyboard. It's almost to the point where it is unusable."

Jason L is not alone, and for some, the display issue has completely paralyzed the device at times. But now, according to Droid Life, "Paulw" - a Google representative who has been attending to the complaints over the Nexus 7 2's issues - has announced on Google's product forums that an Android 4.3 update is on the way to fix the problem:

"As a couple of you have mentioned, there's a new system update that's started rolling out for your Nexus 7s. This update does address the touchscreen issues discussed in this thread. If you're one of the people experiencing touchscreen issues, please let us know how it's going after you've received and installed the update."

Now if they can only do something about the GPS being disabled randomly, the Nexus 7 2 will be bug free and hopefully ready for a Google Nexus 7 2 LTE release some time soon.
