The LTE Google Nexus 7 2 has a release date in the U.K., so could the U.S. also get one soon?
On Wednesday the second generation of the Google Nexus 7, sometimes called the Google Nexus 7 2, launched in the U.K., Germany, Spain, France, and Japan in its Wi-Fi-only version, according to Engadget. But at the same time, British wireless provider O2 has tipped the launch of the LTE Google Nexus 7 2 as Sept. 13, with pre-orders starting Thursday. The price is set at 320 pounds, or the U.S. equivalent of $495.
So could the Google Nexus 7 2 LTE version be headed elsewhere soon as well? That depends on what O2 means by "exclusive." The wireless provider says that the new Google Nexus 7 4G is "exclusive to O2," but that probably only means exclusive in the U.K. to O2. If that's the case, perhaps the highly anticipated 7-inch tablet is on its way to the U.S. in the same timeframe.
The Google Nexus 7 2 initially launched in a Wi-Fi-only variant, with 16GB or 32GB version of the tablet available in the U.S. since its unveiling late July. It features a 7-inch Full High Definition screen running at 1920 x 1200 pixels, powered by a Snapdragon S4 Pro processor clocked at 1.5GHz and assisted by 2GB of RAM.
Many early adopters of the Google Nexus 7 2 Wi-Fi-only initially ran into problems with the tablet's GPS and touchscreen, but a recent update to the Nexus 7 2's Android 4.3 Jelly Bean firmware has resolved these issues. With those major firmware issues resolved, it looks like the LTE Google Nexus 7 2 - which features the same hardware, but only comes in a 32GB internal storage option - may be cleared for launch.
