The Google Nexus 7 2 has more users; more problems.

The Google Nexus 7 2, which has recently rolled out across the globe, was supposed to have all of the kinks worked out since users got an OTA firmware update for the tablet's Android 4.3 operating system.

Users had been experiencing GPS and touchscreen issues before the Android 4.3 update. The GPS problem seems to have been fixed, but new Google Nexus 7 2 users are apparently experiencing the touchscreen problem even after installing the update.

This problem with the Google Nexus 7 2's touchscreen - registering "phantom fingers" - has been around ever since the Mountain View giant unveiled and released the updated 7-inch tablet in midsummer. For a quick summary of the problem, here's "Jason L," who complained on Google's Product forums weeks ago about the issue:

"I picked up my new N7 on Friday. At first the keyboard seemed okay, though it would occasionally register double presses on the keyboard. Now it has gotten progressively worse and the keyboard getting very erratic. It is frequently registering double taps, and often ghost taps in areas not anywhere near where I'm touching on the keyboard. It's almost to the point where it is unusable."

Google released the update, called JSS15Q, which was believed to fix the multi-touch issues, along with a problem keeping the GPS on and aligned. But now, according to PhoneArena, new users are experiencing touchscreen problems with JSS15Q installed on their systems. Here's a video demonstration of that problem:

It could be that new users aren't calibrating their Google Nexus 7 2's correctly, which, if correct, would be a huge sigh of relief for Google. That's because, if the issue is more elusive than just a firmware update, Google might have a huge problem with their new Nexus 7 2 line. The worst-case scenario is that it's a hardware problem that means either repairing or replacing it.
