The HTC One Max is set to compete with the Xperia Z Ultra and other similar phablets when it is completes its roll out to various markets across the world, but it appears HTC is handicapping the device by having a limited releases in the United States, as well as skipping one major market entirely.

Currently, it has been confirmed that the HTC One Max will be coming to Verizon Wireless and Sprint, according to Gotta Be Mobile. However, since the phablet was officially announced earlier in October, no other service provider in the United States has laid claim to the device, which could hinder the sales of the device here. After all, big name smartphone and tablets such as the iPhone or the Moto X appear on a wide variety of service providers, so limiting the HTC One Max to just two (albeit two of the biggest) service providers in the country seems like an odd move.

There is still a possibility that the HTC One Max will come to other service providers, but the device will not be launching at all in a nearby market. Canada will not see the HTC One Max at all, according to statements made by HTC to Mobilesyrup. HTC revealed that the devices they offer to Canadian customers is "sufficient" and they have no need to introduce the HTC One Max to the country:

"HTC devices differ from country to country, we work closely with carrier partners in each region to determine what is best for their consumers. Every market is different and has specific needs and demands. We consider a number of factors such as, the HTC devices currently available, the competition etc. At this time the current HTC line up of devices is sufficient for the Canadian marketplace."

This combined with the lack of service providers offering the phablet in the United States puts HTC and the HTC One Max behind the eight ball right out of the gate. If a limited amount of users have access to the device, then it simply cannot become the next big thing in mobile devices. If AT&T, T-Mobile and other service providers do not get the chance to carry the device, then the phablet will suffer in terms of sales.
