While the HTC One Max has yet to receive a release date, or official confirmation from HTC, a new rumor indicates that the device could begin hitting shelves on Oct. 17, leading to renewed interest about the phablet.

According to Chinese website Eprice, the device will launch on Oct. 17 for 23,900 New Taiwan Dollars, which is the equivalent of about $809 USD. It is unclear in what regions and markets the HTC One Max will initially launch in, as HTC has remained tight lipped about the device.

Despite all the secrecy from HTC concerning the phablet, many details about the device have been leaked, along with several photographs showing the device off. One of the biggest rumored features is a fingerprint scanner, much like the recently launched iPhone 5s from Apple. This feature has been shown sporadically featured device, which indicates that HTC may have different models of the device that may have a fingerprint scanner depending on the region.

The other big rumored feature for the HTC One Max is the Ultrapixel camera the device. While many smartphones and tablets have cameras that use various amounts of megapixels, the HTC One Max will allegedly go the extra mile and give users a next-level camera experience.

The chipset for the phablet has been the subject of much speculation. While it was initially reported that the HTC One Max would have a 1.7GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, now it is widely believed that the device will have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor. The reasoning behind this, according to NDTV, is believed to be the high demand for the Snapdragon 800 processors by other smartphone companies, which forced HTC to settle for the older chipset because of insufficient supply.

Other details about the HTC One Max include the 5.9-inch Full HD display, which is a Super LCD display. The device is also rumored to have Android 4.3 as an operating system. The official price of the device has yet to be revealed, and so far no service providers such as Verizon Wireless, Sprint and AT&T have yet to commit to the phablet.

Look out for more news about the HTC One Max right here as the rumored Oct. 17 release date draws closer.
