Samsung's newest phablet, the Galaxy Mega 6.3, is getting released in its home country across several wireless providers. It's been priced and is ready to go, so what could that mean for a possible U.S. release date?

Samsung has announced the release date for the Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 in South Korea. It's coming to that country on SK Telecom, KT and LG U+, according to SamMobile, this month. It will have the same specifications as we've seen from the Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 model, but will add some Korea-specific features, like ImageOn, DMB for live TV, and will be set up for some DRM content that is coming down the pipe in that country starting in September.

The price of the South Korean Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 is 700,000 won, which is about $630 US. Now that the device is becoming available in South Korea, it could start making its way to U.S. shores soon. A couple months ago, in June, the Galaxy Mega 6.3 was spotted with several other Samsung devices at the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). The device, model number SGH-i527, was going through review on its way to AT&T, according to Unwired Review. According to reliable Twitter smartphone news source @evleaks, the phablet will also be available through U.S. Cellular:

Rumors have it that the Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 will cost about $200, an on-contract price, which sounds about right for the mid-range phablet.

With one of the largest screens for a smartphone currently (only beaten by the monstrous 6.4-inch Xperia Z Ultra phablet), the Galaxy Mega 6.3 actually has modest specs behind the display. The display itself is a 720p HD touchscreen, powered by a 1.7GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, assisted by 1.5GB of RAM.

It's got an 8-megapixel main camera in the back, and a 1.9-megapixel front-facing shooter. It comes with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and 8GB or 16GB of storage, which can be upped by the microSD card slot, which gives you expansion of up to 64GB. The battery is a hefty 3,200 mAh, and should give you some time to talk on AT&T's LTE network, which it is capable of connecting to.

Stay with us for more updates on Samsung products, as well as other tech news, as we'll surely get an official U.S. release date for the Galaxy Mega 6.3 sometime relatively soon.
