Previously, I reported that Samsung will be releasing a line of large phones, dubbed the Mega line. Now we have confirmation of some of the specs of the smaller of the two planned phones, the Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8.

Also known as the GT-I9152, the Mega 5.8 is a DUOS phone, a mid-range line of phones available at lower price points. Some sources are calling the Mega 5.8  a "high-end" phone, but it's more accurate to say it has the best specs of this kind of mid-range phone so far.

Naturally, it sports a 5.8-inch qHD TFT display, with a 960x540 resolution. It runs a 1.4 GHz dual-core processor, though there's no word on exactly what kind of chip it will have. Previous rumors say the Mega line could run the Exynos 5210 chips, but a Qualcomm processor is also possible.

The Mega 5.8 will have 1.5GB of RAM, an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera.

"Of course Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi 80211 a/b/g/n and A-GPS are on the device too. Galaxy Mega 5.8 will have a 2600 mAh battery and the dimensions would be 164×83.8×9.7mm. The Galaxy Mega 5.8 will run on Android 4.1.2 / 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and Samsung will use their own Nature UX interface on it," SamMobile writes.

The other purported Mega is the 6.3, which would be the largest smartphone in Samsung's lineup.

Even customers who aren't interested in these new phones should pay attention, since they might give us some information about the Galaxy Note 3, due out this fall. Previous rumors said the Note 3 could have a 5.9-inch or 6.3-inch display.

It looks like the 6.3-inch rumors were actually about the Mega 6.3. But if the Note 3 has a 5.9-inch display, it would be larger than the Mega 5.8, a situation that seems unlikely, given the confusion the branding would cause.

That might mean the Note 3's size won't change and Samsung will stay with the dimensions of the previous iteration, 5.55 inches. That remains to be seen, but we'll keep you posted.
