Bad news for anyone hoping to see Titanfall hit Sony or Nintendo consoles when it launches in 2014. According to IGN, during a quarterly earnings call for EA, game publisher of Titanfall, CFO Blake Jorgensen, stated that the game will be exclusive to Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC; it will never come to the PlayStation 4 or Wii U.

This is big news for those hoping the game would come to the PlayStation 4, as the game is a front-runner for the next big console exclusive. No other game — besides the still under wraps Halo title — has the same amount of hype surrounding it. The PlayStation 4 has its own collection of notable exclusives, but none have received the same amount of awards and hype as Titanfall.

Respawn's Vince Zampella offered two cents via his Twitter account, and revealed that the decision to have Titanfall stay exclusive to Microsoft consoles was EA's choice and not the development team's.

"Always [Microsoft] exclusive at launch, great partner and focus is good for a startup. EA made a deal for the rest, we only found out recently," Zampella wrote.

Zampella also stated that the company will develop games for the PlayStation 4, but again said that Titanfall will not be one of those games:

"Of course we will [make PlayStation 4 games], just not the first Titanfall."

This leaves open the possibility of Titanfall sequels appearing on the Sony console, but Zampella made it clear that Respawn is focused solely on Titanfall in the near future, so it could be years before Titanfall 2 appears.

Titanfall is scheduled for release on March 11, 2014, and it will be interesting to see if the game can live up to the hype, or if its too ambiguous and the combination of many different elements in the game leads to a disjointed experience.
