Super Smash Bros. 4 is one of the most anticipated games to come out on any system, and is hands down the top upcoming game for the Wii U and 3DS. The game does not have an official release date as of yet, but Nintendo's released a deluge of updates about the title from the game's official website.

The biggest update is the news that returning character Sonic will be included in the roster for Super Smash Bros. 4. The iconic Sega superstar was announced during a Nintendo Direct on Oct. 1, and soon after Nintendo released several screenshots of the character in action. The speedster will be return to the series and face off against other returning characters such as Donkey Kong, Link and Fox along with the new characters that have been announced for the game. Nintendo has released many different screenshots featuring Sonic, but the most impressive is a screenshot featuring the blue hedgehog alongside two other iconic characters from that era: Mario and Capcom's Mega Man.

In addition to the news about Sonic returning to the series, there have been updates on other characters as well. One screenshot shows a close up of the character Fox and shows the graphical power of the Wii U. The screenshot shows Fox pulling his blaster out to shoot an unseen foe and the details of both the blaster and Fox himself are stunning. Fox is beautifully rendered and the screenshot shows his fur, teeth and clothes in vivid detail.

Nintendo has released screenshots almost every day, but the company hasn't mentioned anything about new characters and game modes. So far all but three of the confirmed characters for the game are returning characters. These three new characters (Wii Fit Trainer, Mega Man and the Animal Crossing Villager) were all announced during E3 in June, so Nintendo appears to be remaining quiet on new roster additions.

Super Smash Bros. 4 will be appearing on the Wii U and 3DS, with the game uniquely customized for each platform.
