Nintendo has already revealed over a dozen returning characters for Super Smash Bros. 4, as well as a few new characters, but now Nintendo has unveiled a new returning character to the game: Toon Link.

Toon Link is the version of the main character from the Legend of Zelda series, who first appeared in The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker on the Nintendo Gamecube. Coincidently, that game is being re-released and given an HD makeover for the Wii U, so the timing of this announcement may play into the release date of The Wind Waker HD.

Nintendo announced this news on the official website for Super Smash Bros. 4, and released several different screenshots of the character as well. Toon Link is seen in the Wii U and 3DS version of the game, even standing next to the regular version of the character in one of the Nintendo 3DS screenshots.

While it is hard to gauge what sort of move set Toon Link will have for the newest Super Smash Bros. game, some details can be seen in these screenshots. Toon Link will be able to use his own version of the Master Sword, as well as the shield usually associated with Link. Toon Link's baton, which players of The Wind Waker will recognize from the game, also shows up in one of the screenshots.

This is the second character announced this month for the game, as earlier the returning character Peach was confirmed for the game as well. While Nintendo has frequently updated the roster for Super Smash Bros. 4, most of the roster updates have concerned returning characters, rather than completely new characters. The three new characters that have been confirmed (Animal Crossing's Villager, The Wii Fit Trainer and Capcom's Mega Man) were announced at E3 in June, and since then no other new characters have been revealed.

Nintendo has frequent updates concerning Super Smash Bros. 4 on the game's official website, including screenshots from the game. The game does not have a release date as of yet, however, the game is expected to be launch sometime in 2014.
