Bioshock Infinite is one of the most anticipated titles of 2013 and with the game delayed until at least March fans are likely starving for updates or spoilers on the marquee title.

IGN has unveiled the first five minutes of the game detailing the start of the journey. Over a black screen a woman asks another character if he is afraid and he responds, “No. Not of You.” Then a quote comes up from R. Lutece’s Barriers to Trans-Dimensional Travel from 1889. The quote reads “The mind of the subject will desperately struggle to create memories where none exist…”
Suddenly a title card showing 1912 appears and the viewer is transported onto a boat in the middle of the sea. A man and woman argue about rowing the boat and hand the protagonist a box which contains a gun and a photo. In the distance is a lighthouse which the characters eventually arrive at. The protagonist gets off the boat and walks on a pier toward the lighthouse which is eerily similar to that of the original Bioshock’s opening sequence. Moments later, the character finds a note written to him and he enters into the lighthouse.

The interior is littered with signs that have ominous messages written on it. As DeWitt ascends the stairs he eventually comes upon a fresh corpse with blood smeared on the wall. He continues to ascend until reaching a special door into which a code must be entered. Once the code is entered the door opens revealing a “fancy chair” as referred to by DeWitt. He takes a seat which starts a pre-launch sequence that ends the video.

The sequence is reminiscent of the opening of the original Bioshock in which the protagonist starts off at sea. When there is an accident, he swims to a lighthouse, enters into a capsule and is launched underwater.

The title is slated for a March 26, 2013 launch on the Xbox 360 and PS3, but the release date has already been pushed back a number of times.
