Becky G is looking to spice up the Power Rangers movie hitting theaters in 2017.

The official Lionsgate Movie Twitter account announced Oct. 30 the singer and actress would be "suiting up" as the Yellow Ranger.

@LionsGateMovies: "#BeckyG (@iambeckyg) is suiting up as the #YellowRanger in the #PowerRangersMovie! Let the countdown to 2017 begin" along with a link to their Instagram revealing the face and name of an actor associated with each ranger.

The 18-year old songstress has recently been showing off her acting skills in FOX's musical drama Empire alongside Taraji P. Henson and Terrence Howard. She portrays a young Latina singer, hungry for fame - initially joining a girl group and making some bold moves to go solo.

She is obviously quite ecstatic about the role. She tweeted "I am a @PowerRangers" with a yellow heart right after admitting she believed the role was meant for her. "My favorite color is yellow. It's like it was meant to be," she tweeted.

The move seemed somewhat unprecedented as previous reports did not seem to circulate the young singer's name as a possible candidate. However, her loyal fans seem to be on-board. Lionsgate's message was liked over 1,200 times and retweeted over 700 times.

Both of the California native's tweets received over 3,000 favorites and 1,400 retweets.

She joins Naomi Scott (Pink Ranger) of "The Martian," R.J. Cyler (Blue Ranger) of "Me and Earl and the Dying Girl," Dacre Montgomery (Red Ranger) of "Betrand and the Terrible," and Ludi Lin (Black Ranger) of "Holiday Spin" in the newest addition to the Lionsgate Power Rangers franchise.

Based on the promotional Power Rangers Movie photos, the new rangers and the original rangers are cast into the same gender roles - with the yellow and pink ranger both portrayed by women.

The film will be directed by Dean Israelite. Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz of X-Men: First Class and other super hero flicks will be writing the screenplay, executively produced by Roberto Orci of "Star Trek," "The Amazing Spider-Man" and "Transformers."

The "Mighty Morphin" movie is expected to hit the box office in 2017. Fans can chant "Go-go power rangers" til then.
