The "darker" sequel to the "Fifty Shades of Grey" Trilogy is finally coming full circle and more casting updates are coming to light. At this time, it is still a mystery as to who will play the villainous Jack Hyde.
Speculations surrounds sexy "Vampire Diaries" star Ian Somerhalder and hunky "Divergent" series star Theo James.
Somerhalder was rumored to have coveted playing a part in the "Fifty Shades" series. Although he was not cast as Christian Grey he may get the chance to play another major role. As The Franchise Herald points out via The Inquisitr, Ian Somerhalder would make a great fit since he has already played a dark and evil character "who may have some emotions that make him easier to relate to, but always seems to make mistakes."
Theo James is also a hopeful to be cast as Christian Grey's antagonistic counterpart. James is known for his role Four in the action-packed "Divergent" series. James recently became the face of Hugo Boss' perfume campaign. The sexy star is pictured in black and white suits in the steamy campaign, which has caused many to believe he would fit perfectly into the "Fifty Shades Darker" cast. Media outlets, like ExtraTV and Vanity Fair, have even written James channels Christian Grey vibes in the hot new fragrance ads. But would he be "dark" enough for the role?
Jack Hyde is Anastasia Steele's new boss is pretty hands on as he sexually harasses her in the second film. His twisted behavior appears to be tied to his dark past, which involves Christian Grey. Both men lived in the same foster home as children.
As Fifty Shades Wikia writes, "Jack Hyde is a former Commissioning Editor at Seattle Independent Publishing (SIP). He is 32 years old during the events of the series. As a child, Jack grew up in Detroit, MI. His father died in a bar fight and his mother was an alcoholism [sic], so he was placed into foster care. When Christian's birth mother committed suicide, Christian was placed into the same foster home that Jack was in. Like Christian, Jack had a violent history as an adolescent, but was able to overcome adversity: he received a scholarship to Princeton University, graduated with a degree in English Literature, and had a successful career. However, Jack still harbored jealousy and resentment towards the Grey family for adopting Christian instead of him."
The character definitely has a heavy past. It will be interesting to see who winds up playing the complex role of Jack Hyde. "Fifty Shades Darker" will hit theaters Feb. 10, 2017.
