Uh oh. It looks like we're going to see a bald Professor X in the upcoming "X-Men: Apocalypse." Director Bryan Singer has recently posted a photo on Instagram showing actor James McAvoy having his hair shaved. Take a look at the photo below:

Screen Rant said this this is totally different from Professor X's "Oxford hairdo in 'X-Men: First Class'" and from his "shaggy seventies mane and beard" in "X-Men: Days of Future Past." Note that the upcoming movie is said to be set in the 1980s.

If you must remember, McAvoy has already hinted about losing all his hair in the next "X-Men" movie in a previous interview with the Huffington Post.

"I'll be older in this one... And I think I'm losing my hair finally. And, yeah, that's kind of all I know," McAvoy was quoted as saying.

The real story behind Professor X's bald head is still unclear at the moment but Screen Rant has some hunch about it. "In the comic books, books Xavier loses his hair in his teens as a side effect of his mutation, but in the film universe he will be around forty years old by the time it disappears completely. Perhaps his hairline starts receding and he decides to do the sensible thing and chop off the rest rather than watch it slowly disappear."

Singer also earlier took to Instagram to reveal new movie characters. About a month ago, Singer introduced "Newsroom" actress Olivia Munn as Betsy Braddock, aka Psylocke.

Singer has also earlier shared on Instagram several other announcements the three new actors that have been included in the movie cast list. The photo which was just a screenshot of his tweet named the three new actors/actresses -- Sophie Turner as Jean Grey, Tye Sheridan as Cyclops, and Alexandra Shipp as Storm. Singer also officially announced via another Instagram post the one to play as young Kurt Wagner/Nightcrawler -- Australian actor Kodi Smit-McPhee. Singer also announced on Instagram another actress joining the cast -- Lana Condor as Jubilee/Jubilation Lee.

Other actors/actresses included in the movie's cast list include Ben Hardy as Angel, Evan Peters as Quicksilver, Michael Fassbender as Magneto, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, Nicholas Hoult as Beast, and Rose Byrne as Moira MacTaggert.

"X-Men: Apocalypse" is set to hit theaters in May next year.
