The latest iPod Touch devices have similar features, but it is the small features that can make the difference.

In one hand, there is the iPod Touch fourth generation (4G) and on the other is the new iPod Touch fifth generation (5G).

Size:

When comparing the device, the measurements go in favor for both devices.

The iPod Touch 4G has a length of 4.4-inches, width of 2.32-inches, and a depth of 0.28-inches. The device also weighs 3.56 ounces.

The iPod Touch 5G has a slightly bigger length with 4.86-inches, smaller width by 0.01 of 2.32-inches, but a smaller depth of 0.24-inches. The device also weighs less with 3.10 ounces.

Display:

Similar to the iPhone 5 and iPhone 4S, the two iPod Touch generations saw a screen increase from 3.5-inches to 4-inches.

The fifth generation of the iPod Touch now has a 4-inch screen with Retina Display. The fourth generation also had Retina Display.

When is comes to pixel resolution, the fourth generation was 960x640 at 326 pixels per inch. The newer iPod Touch has a pixel resolution of 1,136x640 pixel resolution at also 326 pixels per inch.

Memory:

Currently, the iPod Touch 5G is available in the 32GB and 64GB variants, while the fourth generation offers the 16GB and 32GB.

Camera:

The iPod Touch 5G has a five-megapixel iSight camera, featuring autofocus, backside illumination, five-element lens, LED flash, face detection, and a hybrid IR filter.

It also has a front-facing camera with 1.2-megapixels, and HD video of up to 720p and 30 frames per second.

The 4G iPod Touch is able to record videos at 720p and up to 30 frames per second. Still photos are able to captured with a pixel resolution of 960x720 pixels resolution.

Wireless Connectivity:

The fourth generation of the iPod Touch is able to connect with Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and starts up with Blutetooth version 2.1.

The fifth generation has some enhancements. It is able to connect to Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n and Bluetooth version 4.0.

Battery Power:

The iPod Touch 5G has a rechargeable lithium-ion battery. When it comes to music playback time, it can go up to 40 hours when fully charged, and eight hours for video playback.

The 4G variant also has a lithium-ion battery and a music playback time of 40 hours. However, video playback time is one hour less, with seven hours.

For both 4G and 5G devices, it will take two hours to reach 80 percent capacity when charging and four hours to be fully charged.

Voice Assistant:

New to the iPod Touch 5G is Siri. The voice assistant can understand the following languages: English (U.S., UK, Canada, Australia), Spanish (U.S., Mexico, Spain), French (France, Canada, Switzerland), German (Germany, Switzerland), Italian (Italy, Switzerland), Japanese, Korean, Mandarin (Mainland China, Taiwan), and Cantonese (Hong Kong).

Colors:

The iPod Touch 4G is available in black and white. The new 5G is available in black, blue, pink, white, and yellow. However, a red version is available but it is exclusive to the Apple Store.

Prices:

For the iPod Touch 4G, the 16GB has a price tag of $199 and $249 for the 32GB.

The iPod Touch 5G is selling the 32GB for $299 and the 64GB for $399.
