On Jan. 18, the Screen Actors Guild of America will hand out the acting awards.

The SAG awards are important because the Guild includes a number of Oscar voters and the winner of the Best Ensemble award usually goes home with the Academy Award for Best Picture.

This year the SAG awards matched 14 out of the 20 nominees that are also nominated for the Academy Awards.

The nominees for Best Ensemble are "12 Years a Slave," "American Hustle," "Lee Daniel's The Butler," "Dallas Buyers Club," and "August: Osage County."

Matthew McConaughey leads the nominees for Best Actor for his role in "Dallas Buyers Club." The other nominees are Chiwetel Ejiofor for "12 Years a Slave," Tom Hanks for "Captain Phillips," Forest Whitaker for "Le Daniel's The Butler," and Bruce Dern for "Nebraska."

The nominees for Best Actress are Cate Blanchett for "Blue Jasmine," Meryl Streep for "August: Osage County," Judi Dench for "Philomena," Sandra Bullock for "Gravity" and Emma Thompson for "Saving Mr. Banks."

In the Best Supporting Actor race front-runner Jared Leto ("Dallas Buyers Club") will compete against Michael Fasbender ("12 Years a Slave"), Daniel Bruhl ("Rush"), James Gandolfini ("Enough Said"), and Barkhad Abdi ("Captain Phillips").

The Best Supporting actress will be battled out between Jennifer Lawrence for "American Hustle" and Lupita Nyong'o for "12 Years a Slave." June Squibb ("Nebraska"), Oprah Winfrey ("Lee Daniel's The Butler") and Julia Roberts ("August: Osage County") round out the nominees.

The SAG awards will be presented on TNT and the Red Carpet will be live streamed. The awards are celebrating their 20th anniversary and will also celebrate television acting in 2013.

SAG awards: 8 p.m. EST
