The recipient of numerous game of the year awards, and eventually on seemingly every console available, Telltale's The Walking Dead was one of the biggest success stories of last year. A sequel for the game has been rumored ever since the original was released, and now Telltale appears to be getting ready to officially reveal The Walking Dead: Season Two on Oct. 29.

Telltale made the announcement through its Twitter account, including the message "keep your hair short" along with the date and a picture of the hat that the character Clementine wore in the original game.

The game was originally slated for a fall 2013 release date, and in preparation for the game, Telltale released a DLC episode entitled The Walking Dead: 400 Days, which will serve as a transition between season one and two of the series. Not much is known about the sequel to the critically acclaimed game, but it has been confirmed that Clementine will be returning to the series, though her exact role is unknown. The character that players were charged with protecting may return as a central character, or Clementine could be reduced to a cameo appearance in season two. Telltale may clarify her role during the big reveal.

Anyone looking to play The Walking Dead Season Two should have already played the first season, as well as the 400 Days DLC episode. The content from previous entries in the series has the potential to affect the way the sequel's content will play out, so to get the full experience, players should ensure they're caught up entirely.

As the name implies, The Walking Dead is a spinoff of the popular comic book series that also spawned the equally successful show on AMC. The game is set in the same universe, but features a different set of characters and features events that run parallel to the comic book and television events. It will be interesting to see where Telltale brings the series next, as critics and fans have heaped praise on the game for presenting players with hard-hitting decisions that mimic those made by characters in the comic and television show.
