Disney Infinity has been a surprise success, as the combination video game and action figure line has carved out a respectable amount of popularity with gamers. Disney fans have been buying up the various figures that have been released for the game. Now, in an interview with Polygon, the executive producer of the game, John Vignocchi, revealed that the user created Toy Box content for the game has been downloaded over a million times in the two weeks the feature has been available.

Vignocchi is proud of this news and revealed that the development team wanted to show that the game could work well with user generated content in addition to the developers content delivered through the toys:

"What we wanted to do is show the community that it is our intention that Infinity will continue to grow and live over time with user-generated content...We wanted to start putting content in that channel so people could see what could be created."

Both Vignocchi and the development team at Avalanche are surprised at the level of quality of these fan levels, which include maps based on Tron, Up, and Bioshock Infinite. The executive producer is excited to see what sort of creations users will come up with in the future:

"There is a perspective that you have as a developer that the creations that will come from our team are going to be the most spectacular made and in fact what the community has made has completely blown away our expectations...It's amazing to see the guys who are good at Minecraft building things in Infinity."

In addition, this trend towards popular user generated content is a good sign of the long term health of the game, according to Vignocchi:

"Our data shows that the players who are engaging in user-generated content are ten times more likely to continue to play Infinity than those who don't...It's wild when you look at the data and you can see that direct correlation."

In addition to these user levels, Avalanche is preparing their own fresh content for Disney Infinity. Jack Skellington and The Nightmare Before Christmas were recently launched for the game, and on October 22, the Toy Story in Space playset will be made available. In November, figures based on the movies Frozen and Wreck-It Ralph will be made available, with more figures rolling out as the year closes out.
