Motorola's Moto X is quickly gaining a reputation as the smartphone on people's radar. The highly customizable, yet still powerful device, has attracted a fair share of attention ever since it began rolling out this year. Now, a new feature on the Moto Maker website, which allows certain users can use to make their own Moto X phone, is offering an easy way for former iPhone users to switch their information over to the Google-based phone.

The news was formally announced on a Google+ post by Punit Soni, the vice president of product management at Motorola Mobility:

"We added the ability to migrate your iPhone contacts and calendar to the Moto X (from Motomaker.com). There is a long way to go, but its a start...Hope folks who are transitioning from an iOS device find it useful."

The feature can be found on the Moto Maker website. However, some restrictions do apply concerning this feature. If a user has already bought a Moto X phone from the website or a retailer, they cannot use this tool. Only new Moto X phone bought from the website will work.

Once a user has bought the phone on the Moto Maker site, they can simply enter in their iCloud information before logging into their Google account. One click of the "Begin Transfer" button and all the user's iPhone contacts and calendar information will begin to switch over to the Moto X.

It is unknown if Motorola will extend this feature to all users of the Moto X phone or those looking to buy the phone from retailers. The feature was implemented before rumors spread that Verizon and other service providers would be able to use the full Moto Maker options that are exclusive to AT&T customers. It is unclear when Verizon and other service providers will be able to branch out beyond the black and white models currently offered to their customers.

The new feature may a response to the recent launch of the iPhone 5C, the colorful iPhone variant that gives users several different color options for the smartphone and case. Many felt as though Apple was trying to mimic the success that the vibrant Moto X has had in that regard, and analyses have often compared the two smartphones.

Look out for more Moto X news as the device continues to expand the Moto Maker features for the device.
