Grand Theft Auto 5's online mode is now officially available for users to download and play, but many of its promised features are not yet available. Rockstar has launched the mode with several different modes and missions for players to check out, and the full list of eventual online features can be found on IGN.

It should be noted that many users are reporting that the game is having server issues, so players may have difficulty logging into the game and joining their friends for mayhem. However, this is expected with any big title launches, especially one as gigantic as Grand Theft Auto 5's.

Currently, GTA 5 Online allows up to 16 players to play online at the same time, and these players can partake in a variety of missions and jobs that are separate from the single player campaign. Players can start or join a crew, and players will be able to participate in crew activities as well as crew hangouts such as watching movies or playing sports together.

By completing different missions and activities a crew will gain reputation, which helps them stand out among other crews and allows players to improve their rank and get a variety of new weapons and items. Players can compete with or against their crew in different game modes such as deathmatches and races. Crews can invest in properties and customized vehicles and the game will drop supply crates randomly for players to fight over.

Several different game modes will eventually be released for free to add even more content to the online mode for Grand Theft Auto 5. The stock market from the single player will be added to the online mode so players and crews can buy and sell stocks. A Capture the Flag mode will add new variety for deathmatch modes. Rockstar will also add heists similar to the single player portion of the game that can be played out together.

New content packs will be added to the game as well. So far only the Beach Bum pack has been announced, but more will be delivered later. In addition, Rockstar plans to add a content creator to the game so players can make their own online events.
