PS4 News: User Interface Features Leaked Ahead of Nov. 15 Release Date

The PlayStation 4 won't be launched until Nov. 15, but you can check out the user interface right now. PlayStation Europe's English Community Manager Chris Owen revealed several different photos on his Twitter account showing exactly how owners of the PlayStation 4 will access various features on the next-gen console.

One of the images shows off the main page of the user interface. Players will have personal information such as name, trophies and their friends list at the very top. The player's games will all be in a row, and relevant information for each game will be displayed when the user highlights them. Information such as recent progress in the game, as well as information from friends, will also be displayed.

Another picture details the profile page. The page will display the player's name, profile picture, trophy information, current and recent games played, and recently shared photos and videos will appear on the screen. The PlayStation 4 profile is much more detailed than the PlayStation 3's, and delivers much more information in just a single page than the PlayStation 3 profiles.

One photo shows the messaging and sharing screen. It appears users will be able to share photos and videos with certain members of their friends list and pin new photos and videos within the conversation. The user's messages will show up with a green background while their friend's will be blue.

As for the actual sharing feature, one photo shows the main, which will give players the option to upload videos or photos as well as broadcasting their own gameplay in real time. The video edit screen is also shown, as well as a player's channel page where people can watch and comment on live streams and even join the session in progress.

The "What's New" screen is also revealed, which will update a player on any and all activity of their friends. This will include live broadcasts for friends' gaming sessions, recent trophy activity, new likes and ratings from friends, and some ads from the PlayStation Store.

Overall, these photos do a good job of painting the picture of what interacting with the PlayStation 4 will be like. The user interface looks simple enough, and seems to indicate that Sony is trying to simplify the experience of connecting with friends and seeing exactly what other players are up to.
