Though the console version of Diablo 3 is already available, some gamers may still want to try out the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game before purchasing the dungeon crawler. After all, the game was revamped significantly to fit the use of a controller on consoles, and fans, especially PC veterans may want to test out the game before committing to a $60 purchase. Well, now a demo for the game is available for free for both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, offering an extended preview of the critically acclaimed game.

Players can download the demo on either the PlayStation Store or the Xbox Live Arcade, and it comes in at a massive 1.28GB on the Xbox Live, and 1.2GB on the PlayStation Store. Players will be able to transport their saves from the demo and use them if they purchase the game after playing the demo. However, the game has some restrictions. Of the five playable classes that appear in the game, only two will be available in the demo: the Barbarian and the Wizard, according to Eurogamer. Players will be able to enjoy the demo in the single player mode, as well as the local multiplayer, which can host up to four players on one television. However, for the online multiplayer, gamers will have to play with other people using the demo, rather than users who have bought the full game. The demo will take players through the beginning of the game, ending once players reach the first boss, the Skeleton King.

This is a solid opportunity to get potential players into the world of Diablo 3 and give players the chance to explore the mechanics of the game to see if the console version is right for them. Critics are calling Diablo 3 on the console the best version of the game available, so gamers should jump on the opportunity to play the game for free. Players may also want to get a taste of the game to see if they want to purchase the next-gen version of the game, whenever it appears on the PlayStation 4 in 2014.

Diablo 3 is a strong contender for game of the year, and both the PC and console versions of the game have had quite an impact on the video game landscape. Look out for more news on the game right here.
