Rumors had the new Metallic Blue HTC One coming soon from Verizon and Sprint, but no one saw the Best Buy exclusive coming.
There were rumors that Verizon Wireless would get the blue HTC One and there were rumors that Sprint would be adding the Metallic Blue handset to its already colorful lineup. Now it appears that both carriers, along with AT&T, will get the cool hue of the HTC One through Best Buy in a surprising exclusive.
Best Buy announced on Monday that it would be carrying the "Metallic Blue" HTC One exclusively at their main stores and Best Buy Mobile, as well as BestBuy.com, starting on Sunday, Sept. 15. Makes sense - the retailer's favorite color is blue. Through Best Buy you can get the HTC One in its new color with the option of 4G LTE service from AT&T, Sprint or Verizon Wireless.
On-contract pricing for the new HTC One hasn't been discussed by any of the three carriers, but the full, unlocked price for the new handset has been set at $700, according to Engadget. That may position the Metallic Blue HTC One's on-contract price up a little bit higher, as most carriers are offering it for about $200 after the discount on a $600 total price tag. However, carriers might be willing to offer deals, and don't forget that Best Buy has a trade-in program for your old phone, which can help lower the cost.
The Metallic Blue HTC One is the latest variation on the Huge Taiwanese Company's latest flagship smartphone. The HTC One has received a lot of critical acclaim for its premium-feeling unibody aluminum frame, as well as for the hardware it packs.
The HTC One comes with a 4.7-inch Full HD 1080p display, running on a 1.7GHz quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor with 2GB of RAM assisting. It comes with 32GB of memory in its lowest-cost version, but has no microSD card slot for expansion. The device features Beats audio integration, along with exclusive BoomSound stereo speakers on the front of the phone. The HTC One also features a 4-megapixel "Ultrapixel" main camera, which the company claims can shoot better in low-light circumstances than its competitors.
