Minecraft fans have devoted endless hours to creating their very own tributes to various pop culture icons, but soon they will be getting an official DLC pack dedicated to one of the most critically acclaimed series of the past console generation, Mass Effect.

The Mass Effect DLC for Minecraft will be exclusive to the Xbox 360, and will be available starting Sept. 4. The DLC will cost $3.99, and will give players a wealth of material to play around with. According to IGN, users who buy the DLC will get the Mars Facility from Mass Effect 3, as well as several different Mass Effect textures to use elsewhere along with craftable items based on the series. Themed menus will also be included with the DLC, and players will get 36 character skins. Finally, 22 new music tracks based on the Mass Effect series will be included with Minecraft.

This should be an interesting piece of DLC for Minecraft fans, as well as for Mass Effect fans interested in building their own versions of the different ships and locations found within the massive series. This should also pave the way for other game specific DLC content for Minecraft, which continues to be a tremendous success on the PC and Xbox 360. Minecraft is also scheduled to appear on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 when the consoles are released in November. With the game continuing to sell millions of digital copies despite the game's age, developers may be trying to get their own games injected into the open-world sandbox game as DLC. Indeed, developer Mojang may be in high demand from next-gen developers looking to get a bump in popularity from the already established series.

While Minecraft is still going strong, Mass Effect Bioware is focusing on continuing the popular series on the new consoles. Mass Effect 4 is in the early stages of development, and is most likely years away from release. However, Bioware is considering having spinoffs that would fill the gap between the third and fourth games in the series, which would help bridge the tale of Captain Shepard and the Normandy to the new characters and settings that will be a part of Mass Effect 4.

Look out for more Mass Effect and Minecraft news right here as we quickly approach the release of the next-gen consoles in November.
