All signals from Bioware indicate that the fourth game in the series will be radically different from the original trilogy, thanks to Commander Shepard's absence from the next game of the series. But many other characters from the original trilogy of games could get spin-offs titles of their own, according to a new interview with several Bioware employees in OXM.

Executive Producer Casey Hudson.spoke of the many different possibilities for the potential spin-off characters, whether they are returning favorites or new characters entirely.

"There's so much that could be told in the Mass Effect universe," Hudson said. "It'd be cool to do something completely unrelated to the larger storyline, like a story about a private investigator on the Citadel. Or maybe something detailing Garrus' time in C-Sec."

Garrus seems to be a popular choice with the team at Bioware, but many recognize the potential for many different characters to get their chance to lead the juggernaut franchise.

Mac Walters believes that many characters have a chance to tell an interesting story.

"Aria. The Illusive Man. Kai Leng. Any henchman. The list goes on. I think most of them could have successful spin-offs of their own in some fashion."

While not much is known about Mass Effect 4, the game is being written, meaning that the game may be coming sooner than some fans would think. However, it could still be years before the sequel launches, so gamers will have to wait and see which character grabs the reins of the series. In the meantime, a spin-off game about Garrus or another popular character would be a welcome sight for many fans wishing for more time in the game's universe.
