The HTC One Max has a new leak that reveals the device's firmware, and also indicates that one of its rumored features may not actually be part of the new smartphone.

As Android Community reported, the leak comes from Chinese website Mobile.3g.cn. The leak shows that the device will carry Android 4.3 as the operating system, with HTC Sense version 5.5. This would put it in the rarified level of devices who have access to one of the newest versions of Android, but also shows that the device will not be one of the first to get Android 5.0 as some may have hoped. The other big news coming from this leak seems to dismiss a previous leak that showed that the HTC One Max would have a fingerprint scanner. This new leak indicates that the device will not have that feature; however, the leak is for the Chinese version of the device, so it is possible that other versions of HTC One Max could have the fingerprint scanner available for use, and the previous leak showed a different version of the device.

The spec list for the device was also revealed in the leak. The device will have a 5.9-inch 1080p Full HD display, which puts it just short of some phablets like the Sony Xperia Z Ultra. The One Max will carry a Qualcomm Snapdragon quad-core 2.3GHz 800 processor with 2GB of RAM, meaning that the new HTC smartphone will be quite powerful. The smartphone will have Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac for connecting to the Internet. Finally, the cameras on the device are rumored to be a 2.1 front-facing camera, and an Ultrapixel camera on the back.

It will be interesting to see what the HTC One Max will be like, and if the device will have a fingerprint scanner or not. HTC will have a chance to officially reveal the device at IFA in Berlin, Germany in early September. The event will have several exciting announcements in store for fans, including the official reveal of the Sony Xperia Honami/Z1 among other devices.
