Several Sony Xperia devices will be getting firmware updates to their Android operating systems. The Xperia S, SL, and Acro S are all getting the update to Android 4.1, giving users several new features to help the smartphones and their users. This news comes straight from the source, as Sony announced the news on their official blog:

"We've started rolling out the maintenance release for Xperia S, Xperia SL & Xperia acro S. After making Android JB 4.1 available for these smartphones, we received feedback on a few issues within the build. We're keen to ensure that all our software is as good as it can possibly be..."

The Xperia S, SL, and Acro S will be getting a host of improvements with the jump to Android 4.1. The update will fix problems with the white balance of the camera, along with upgraded 1080p video recording that reduces lag and improved Quick Launch functionality. Another big boost coming to all three phones is better stability for connecting to 2G networks, helping users gain access to the web. Exchange Active sync will be given a boost to help make the service perform better. The update will also help a minor issue with third party app's losing their preference settings after a reboot.

This update will also improve things under the hood for the Xperia S, SL, and Acro S. The battery's performance will be improved, with a focus on having more economic power consumption with heat dispersion getting a boost. These will help the battery last longer on all three devices, and the update will correct battery power notification on the devices, especially when the power is running low and users really need to know how much longer the device will last.

In terms of hardware and other updates, the popular Google Now feature will be accessible by long pressing the home button on all the devices receiving this update, and double pressing the home button will launch the recent apps. Finally, the volume rocker will get a minor fix, to make sure that the volume up button works as it is suppose to.

The Sony Xperia S,SL, and Acro S are three popular devices for the company, and bringing Android 4.1 to the devices should help the smartphones reach even more users and make the phones much more valuable to those who already have them. Look out for more Android updates for any and all devices right here.
