The race in the American League East is starting to get a lot crazier heading down the home stretch of the season. In a very competitive AL East division, the Boston Red Sox and Baltimore Orioles aim to win their remaining ballgames to secure their place in the postseason.

September baseball is just around the corner, and for championship contending teams, this is the right time of the year to raise their play to another level.

Boston Red Sox vs. Baltimore Orioles (7:10 p.m ET)

The Red Sox reclaimed the top spot in the AL East standings following their strong performance over their last four games. Boston defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers in two games of their three-game series last weekend and sustained their winning ways by beating the Orioles in their first two games.

Looking for their first three-game series sweep over their division rivals in over two years, the Red Sox will be pinning their hope on hurler Jon Lester (12-7, 3.97 ERA) on the mound to counter Orioles pitcher Chris Tillman (14-4, 3.66 ERA), who has been pitching sensationally for Baltimore this season.

The Red Sox's explosive batting unit will be up to bring the goods again. Dustin Pedroia has been on a tear of late, batting .400 over his last 14 games. He so far recorded four hits, two doubles and four RBIs in the series, not to mention he is a .360 hitter against the Orioles. However, Tillman has been dominating Pedroia this season as he went 2-for-9 against the hurler.

Meanwhile, Orioles star Chris Davis and company are expected to come up with a better performance as they look to avoid a clean sweep at the hands of their AL East rival. Davis has racked up 11 RBIs in his last nine games, though the league-leading home run batter is 2-for-9 against Lester.
