New England Patriots quarterback Tim Tebow said he keeps himself focused despite not getting the playing time in Thursday night's preseason game against the Detroit Lions at Ford Field.
Tebow, who was signed by the Pats as the team's third quarterback this summer, didn't see action in the 40-9 loss to the Lions - a game in which coach Bill Belichick decided to stick with two signal callers: starter Tom Brady and his backup Ryan Mallet.
Tebow's absence on the field prompted speculations that Tebow is going to be cut when the Pats trim down their roster to 75 players by August 27 and 53 players on August 31.
Despite the looming judgment day, Tebow remained optimistic of his chances of making it into next season. The former Heisman Trophy winner added he keeps himself focused, even though he still didn't get enough action on the field.
"There are going to be ups and downs," Tebow told USA Today. "That's what life is, and you just have to handle them as best you can."
The 26-year old Tebow went 4-for-12 for 55 yards and was sacked three times in the Pats' 31-22 preseason opener win over the Philadelphia Eagles. He then followed it up with 1-for-7 outing against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Tebow's career has gone spiraling down ever since he was traded by the Denver Broncos to the New York Jets, who used him sparingly on the field last season.
Nevertheless, Tebow seems ready for the worst case scenario, whether that would be the end of his NFL career.
"You just prepare, and what you're asked to do, you do 100 percent with everything you have," he told the USA Today.
