The Motorola Moto X is now available now for AT&T users either from an AT&T location or fully customized on the MotoMaker website and delivered right to your door. Now, Motorola has revealed the Developer Edition of the Moto X, and Verizon Wireless is scheduled to release their own version of the smartphone on Aug. 29.

On his Google+ account Motorola's Vice President of Product Management Punit Soni hinted that the Moto X would soon have Developer Editions and other versions of the Moto X available for users. The official Motorola Moto X page now shows the Developer Edition of the phone, promising that it will be available soon. The smartphone differentiates itself from regular Moto X phones with a black front panel and a white woven rear plate; normal Moto X phone body plates can only be one solid color. The Developer Edition of the phone will have a engraving that states that it is, in fact, the Developer Edition of the phone. The listing also promotes the Developer Edition's 2GB of storage (as opposed to the standard 16GB the Moto X has), and the unlockable bootloader. No word yet on when the Developer Edition of the Moto X will be released or its price.

In addition to the Developer Edition of the Moto X, Verizon Wireless users may receive the device this week, on Thursday, Aug. 29. Droid Life is reporting that multiple sources are claiming Verizon has targeted that day for the device's release date. This would be very close to the original release date for the Moto X, and AT&T has an exclusive agreement with Motorola that will keep the customization options solely in the possession of that service provider for the time being, so Verizon Wireless customers will have to choose just from the black or white options for the Moto X, and not the wide range of color options that AT&T customers can choose from.

The Moto X is one of the most anticipated smartphones to hit the market this year, and Motorola and Google have worked hard to make a device that is easy to customize while still having competent specs. Look out for more Moto X news to see if Verizon Wireless really does get the Moto X later this week and when other service providers will begin offering the smartphone.
