Not everyone is looking forward to Nicole Kidman's new Grace Kelly biopic, "Grace of Monaco." The royal family in Monaco released a statement denouncing the upcoming film as "pure fiction."

According to British newspaper the Guardian, Monaco's current ruling monarch and son of the late Grace Kelly, Prince Albert and his sisters Princess Caroline and Princess Stephanie, said the project was historically inaccurate and did not receive the backing of the monarchy.

"We have had absolutely no association with this project, which claims to be about the lives of our parents," the royals said in the statement. "For us, the film does not constitute a biographical work but portrays only a part of her life and has been pointlessly glamorized and contains important historical inaccuracies as well as scenes of pure fiction."

The film, which features Kidman in the lead role of Princess Grace, details a six-month period in the life of the Hollywood actress as she and her husband Prince Rainier III dealt with a conflict with France. The Palace stated that it had received the script to the film and had made changes but that not all of them were taking into consideration.

"The Palace of Monaco cannot accept that the producers of this film imply they have received Their Highnesses' support in any way whatsoever, since this is not the case," the royal statement concluded.

According to the BBC, the film's producer Pierre-Ange Le Pogam told AFP that the film was supposed to me a work of fiction. He continued, "The palace was aware of the script and made requests for changes. We took most of their remarks into account, but not all."

Pogam added, "The film is not intended to tell the true story of the principality."

"Grace of Monaco" will hit theaters in 2014, E! News reported.
