Comcast bosses are allegedly cracking down on the Matt Lauer jokes and have started with E! funny lady Chelsea Handler.

The "Today" co-host has been the center of many jokes and rumors following the departure of Ann Curry for the NBC morning show.

According to the New York Post, Comcast, which owns NBC and E!, were not amused with a joke Handler set about Lauer and Al Roker. Roker recently admitted to a particular event in the White House and how he had to change his underwear.

Handler said, "This isn't the first time a 'Today' show cast member was in the news about this sensitive subject. For years it was common knowledge that Matt Lauer spent every morning [s - - ting] all over Ann Curry."

A source has since told the Post, "Chelsea's writers were warned to lay off Matt. They don't want them making more fun of Matt and the Ann Curry situation right now."

An E! spokesman has contradicted such claims the source said.

"This is absolutely false, and no such request was made," the spokesman said.

NBC has declined to comment.

The report comes after Lauer has apparently told NBC bosses to let Curry go from her NBC contract so she can pursue new ventures with CNN.
