After one day, Temple Run 2 is the most popular thing in Apple's App Store. We've got an update on critics' reactions, as well as the new gameplay video out now.

Temple Run 2, the successor to Imangi Studio's highly addictive and popular Temple Run, is certainly on a roll... er, run. It's only been out on iPhones in the United States for a little less than a day now, and it's already the most popular iOS app. Yesterday, we alerted you to the fact that Temple Run 2 had been spotted in the New Zealand App Store and was on its way to spreading across the globe.

Apparently word got out.

So far, most reviews have been positive for Temple Run 2 (with the notable exception of TIME, saying that "It feels a little lazy... playing it safe"). The Guardian's Apps Blog is giving it five out of five stars, saying that "It crosses demographic and gaming boundaries as easily as Guy Dangerous hops over dangling footbridges. An excellent sequel." The website 148apps.com calls the game's mechanics pristine, adding, "The formula has been tweaked, and it has come out for the better. It's evolution, not revolution." And Applenapps.com's review title said it all - "A Worthy Successor to the Throne."

The consensus seems to be that Temple Run 2 is a welcome revision and improvement on the original (especially when it comes to the graphics), even though it doesn't have anything that different to offer this time around. But that makes sense. Often with gaming, and especially mobile gaming, keeping it simple is the best way to get repeat customers. If you've never played Temple Run, check out the gameplay video for a taste. If you have, check out the video anyway for its improved graphics.

Right now you can get Temple Run 2 on Apple's App Store. It's available for iPod Touch, iPhone, and iPad. According to Slash Gear, it should be coming out in an Android version sometime next week.

Update**:: Android Version wil be releasing January 24th.
