Academy Award nominee "Silver Linings Playbook" hits theaters nationwide on Jan.18. The film stars Academy Award nominees Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper.

The film tells the story of teacher Pat Solitano who moves back in with his parents and tries to reconcile with his ex-wife after being in a mental institution. Things get more challenging when Pat meets Tiffany, a mysterious girl with problems of her own.

The film is based on the book by Matthew Quick and was originally supposed to be produced by Sydney Pollack and Anthony Minghella in 2008. However both died and the project was delayed. David O. Russell was later approached by Harvey Weinstein. The director accepted because it resembled some of teh struggle he endured with his son who is bipolar and has OCD.

"Playbook" has recently made headlines after scoring eight Academy Award nominations including one for Best Picture. The film also won Best Actress in a Comedy for Jennifer Lawrence at the Golden Globes.

Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence will reunite in 2013 for a new film "Serena" by director Susanne Bier and will tell the story of a couple George and Serena whose relationship is put to the test when Serena discovers she cannot bear children.

"Silver Linings Playbook" also stars Robert De Niro, Jacki Weaver, Chris Tucker, Anupam Kher and Julia Siles.

"Playbook" was released in November but was only playing in limited cities. The film has already made $41 million and Harvey Weinstein has decided to expand it after its awards and nominations for the Oscars. The film will play in 2,800 theaters.
