With the Houston Rockets on a three-game losing skid, they can ill-afford to be without one of their best players, but that could be the case on Tuesday.

Point guard Jeremy Lin sprained his left ankle Monday during a team workout at the Toyota Center, according to the Houston Chronicle.

Lin reportedly stepped on a teammate's foot during practice and had to leave the floor, but stayed for the remainder of practice while putting ice on his ankle.

This is not the first time this season that the Rockets' $25 million point guard has had ankle issues. Earlier last month, Lin had a similar sprain on his right ankle when he landed the wrong way on his foot during a hard cut in practice.

Lin is coming off of surgery in his left knee in April for a torn meniscus injury which ended his previous season in New York.

The setback comes at an inopportune moment for the Rockets, as Lin was set on Tuesday to go head-to-head against superstar point guard--and NBA All-Star ballot rival--Chris Paul and the L.A. Clippers in Houston.

Whether or not Lin is ready to go on Tuesday when the Clippers come to town, playing will be a game time decision, the Chronicle reports.

Lin is currently third in the NBA in steals, and has been instrumental in the Rockets offense, averaging 12.1 points and 6.3 assists this season.
