The Golden Globe Awards Ceremony is a day to celebrate the top performances, films and TV series of the year. However, the awards are often critiqued by the quality of their hosts and their abilities to entertain the general public. This year's two hostesses Amy Poehler and Tina Fey delivered tremendously throughout the night with a plethora of comic moments.

Among them was a jab at former two-time host Ricky Gervais. Fey said, ""Ricky Gervais could not be here tonight because he is no longer technically in show business." Poehler added, "We want to assure you that we have no intention of being edgy or offensive tonight because, as Ricky learned the hard way, when you run afoul of the Hollywood Foreign Press, they make you host this show two more times."

The two women then went around the room naming some of the nominees and poking fun at them. "Zero Dark Thirty" director Kathryn Bigelow has been in a lot of controversy for the depictions of torture in her film. Poehler saw the levity in the situation and noted, ""Kathryn Bigelow's nominated tonight. I haven't really been following the controversy over Zero Dark Thirty, but when it comes to torture, I trust the lady who spent three years married to James Cameron."

Fey later went after Golden Globe winner Anne Hathaway, who hosted the Oscars two years ago alongside actor James Franco. Fey noted, "Anne Hathaway, you gave a stunning performance in Les Miserables. I have not seen someone so totally alone and abandoned like that since you were on stage with James Franco at the Oscars."

The two then did a tag-team routine when talking about some of the top movies of the year. "The Hunger Games was one of the biggest films of the year, and also what I call the six weeks it took me to get into this dress," said Fey. Poehler then added: "Ang Lee's been nominated for Best Director for Life of Pi, which is what I'm going to call the six weeks after I take this dress off!"
