Manchester City's chances of recouping their 2012 English premier league title are slowly slipping away. The team is currently seven points behind first place Manchester United and more lost points could seal their fates. They face a tough challenge Sunday when they take on an equally desperate Arsenal squad.
Manchester City has won the last two matches, including a strong 3-0 win over Stoke City on New Year's Day. In that match, the team got big goals from Pablo Zabaleta, Edin Dzeko, and Serio Agüero. The team's offense is starting to wake up and has now scored 41 goals in 21 games. They have seven goals in their last two games and have gotten contribution from their top forwards. Dzeko leads the team with nine goals while Agüero has eight goals. The team's defense is tied for the best in the league with only 19 goals against. Joe Hart is the clearcut MVP for this team as he has pitched eight clean sheets this season.
Arsenal also has one of the top defenses in the league, but they are only in sixth place in the league with two points separating them from fifth place Everton. They have won three of their last five, but their last match was a disappointing 1-1 draw to lowly Southampton. Arsenal fell behind in the 35th minute but drew some luck when Guilherme Do Prado scored on his own goal to tie the game for Arsenal.
These teams met back on Sept. 23 and fought to a 1-1 draw. Manchester City's Joleon Lescott scored the first goal at the 40th minute but Laurent Koscielny tied the score at the 82nd minute.
Prediction: Arsenal is home and potent. This will likely end in a draw; 2-2.
