Real Madrid is 16 points behind first place FC Barcelona and is essentially out of the running to repeat their Spanish League title. However, Cristiano Ronaldo has started off 2013 on a tear and will likely look to continue doing that when Madrid takes on Osasuna on Saturday.

The team has had a fair share of controversy. Coach Jose Mourinho's job security was put on the line after he omitted legendary keeper and Madrid captain Iker Casillas from the lineup for two straight games. However, the team has managed to win its first two games of the year with stellar offensive display. In their last Spanish league game, Real Madrid defeated Real Sociedad 4-3 on the strength of two Ronaldo goals. On Wednesday, the team took down Celta Vigo in the second leg of the Copa el Rey match. Ronaldo scored a hat trick in that match; his last goal was a tremendous free kick blast. Ronaldo has five goals in 2013 and leads rival Lionel Messi by four goals in the new calendar year. He leads the team with 16 goals in the 2012-13 season.

Los Merengues will take on last place Osasuna. The team only has 14 points in 18 games and has not won in their last four matches.

Prediction: Real Madrid should trample Osasuna; 5-1 Madrid.
