Since the iPhone 5 launched, consumers have scrambled to discover when unlocked versions of Apple's handset would become widely available, and now they have their answer. Starting today, Walmart now offers both the iPhone 5 and iPhone 4 under its 'Straight Talk wireless no contract plan.'

"The advanced iPhone 5 with our unlimited $45 monthly plan and Walmart's $25 special financing offer is a marriage made in heaven-making it the most affordable premium smartphone in America," says TracFone Wireless CEO F.J. Pollak in a recent statement."With this exclusive offer the last reason for not purchasing the No Contract Straight Talk plan is gone."

People on the prowl for a new smartphone will be able to purchase the 16GB iPhone 5 for $649 and the 8GB iPhone 4 for $449. The mega-retailer will grant "special financing" to those who redeem the deal "for $24 a month with a Walmart Credit Card on these select models," according to the company.

Two data plans are available. The $45 monthly fee provides unlimited nationwide talk, text and data, meanwhile the $60 offer adds unlimited international calling to over 1,000 regions.

Walmart U.S. senior vice president of Entertainment adds, "We believe customers shouldn't have to choose between saving money and having the latest technology."

The iPhone 5 is feather-light and takes the record for the thinnest smartphone Apple has ever made. The device shows up the iPhone 4S with a 4-inch screen that displays at 1136 x 640 pixels, a brand new A6 chip, and an ultra-thin touch pad that sharpens feedback to user input..

At normal prices, consumers who opt for a two-year contract with Sprint, AT&T, or Verizon have the option of a 16GB iPhone 5 at $199, a 32GB at $299.99, and a 64GB at $399.99. Unlocked phones sans-contract typically cost $649, 749, and $849 for each respective size.
