Where is the Nexus 4? The mythical Google-LG offspring that offers high-end, unlocked specs at an affordable price point has been MIA for quite some time now, leaving many potential buyers frustrated. Google's inventory situation might just worsen, sadly, as a new report states that LG might be cutting back production of the Nexus 4 in an effort to focus on its next smartphone.

Website IBTimes writes that, "Consumers who wanted to grab the LG Nexus 4 may not be able to do so as Korea's electronics firm LG is alleged to have halted the production of the Nexus 4 to make way for its upcoming smartphones."

IBTimes does not produce a source for the information, so for now, we'll have to take the information with very painful grain of salt in our Nexus 4 flesh wounds.

The report goes on to state that the reason for the halt in Nexus 4 production could be because LG is looking to move on to the next offering, possibly a Nexus 5. While it is highly unlikely that a Nexus 5 would release in the near future, this may be LG gearing up to reveal a Nexus 5, complete with abundant supply, around the time of Google's I/O conference in May.

In other Nexus 4 news, it seems that while most of us have trouble even locating the handset, a Brazilian website claims to have to gotten its hands on a Google Nexus 4 running Android 4.2.2. It seems that LG may have begun manufacturing Nexus 4s with Android 4.2.2 pre-installed on Jan. 5. It's not unlikely, but AndroidAuthority does state that there is no confirmation of this and that there is a possibility that the pictures showcasing the Nexus 4 with Android 4.2.2 could have been manipulated.

Check out n4checker.com to see whether the Nexus 4 is in stock at any of the Google Play stores.

Are you tired of waiting for the Nexus 4? Or does a cheap, LTE-less Google-branded handset still pique your interest?
