Academy Award Nominee "Zero Dark Thirty" will expand nationwide on Jan. 11th. The film, directed by Kathryn Bigelow and written by Mark Boal, follows the decade long search for Osama Bin Laden.

"Zero Dark Thirty" opened in limited release Dec. 19th and received universal acclaim. Mike LaSalle of the San Francisco Chronicle stated that "Thirty" is "One of the most innovative and best made films of the past year."

Christy Lemire of the Associated Press stated that "Bigelow's extensive staging of the May 1, 2011 raid is a prime example of virtuoso action filmmaking."

David Salazar of Latino's Post called the film a "formidable thriller with a heroic turn by Jessica Chastain."

Thirty was recently part of a controversy and is being investigated as the film portrays extensive torture scenes using waterboarding and crude sexual humiliation. Bigelow recently spoke out against the controversy while accepting an award from the New York Film Critics and stated that  "I thankfully want to say that I'm standing in a room of people who understand that depiction is not endorsement, and if it was, no artist could ever portray inhumane practices; no author could ever write about them; and no filmmaker could ever delve into the naughty subjects of our time."

"Zero Dark Thirty" has also garnered multiple awards for best picture and best actress for Jessica Chastain. The film was nominated for four Golden Globes and  five Academy Awards. The movie has done solid business in the last month scoring $4.9 million  at the box office in 60 theaters.

Bigelow and Mark Boal last collaborated on the Oscar winning film "The Hurt Locker" That film was a Box office failure and also caused controversy when Boal rallied against James Cameron's "Avatar" for the Best Picture race.

"Zero Dark Thirty" hits 2 ,400 theaters and is being released by Columbia Pictures.
