On Jan. 11, "Struck by Lightning" will debut in theaters. The film is written and produced by Glee star Chris Colfer and had its world premiere on April 21, 2012 at the Tribeca Film Festival.
"Struck By Lightning" received rave reviews from such critics as Omer Mozaffar of the Chicago Sun who stated that"What makes this film rise a bit above the pack is the recurring idea that everyone wants to leave their nests and fly high into the sky, but few are able."
Critic Perri Nemiroff of Movies.com stated that "If you're not keeping a keen eye on the camerawork, it's easy to get lost in the film's assets - the characters are likable, the jokes are spot on & it's an all-around good time."
The film tells the story of a young man recounting the way he blackmailed his classmates into contributing to his literary magazine. The twist is that the young man has already been dead when the film initiates, a technique that mirrors such classics as "American Beauty" and "Sunset Boulevard."
Chris Colfer rose to fame with his role as Kurt Hummel in the hit show "Glee." He won a Golden Globe for his portrayal and was twice nominated for the Emmy Award. Colfer has recently appeared on "Saturday Night Live" and "Glee 3D: The Concert Movie"
"Lightning" has been playing on demand since Dec. 19 and also stars Rebel Wilson (Bridemaids), Allison Janney (The Help), Christina Hendricks (Ginger and Rosa), and Sarah Hyland (The Muppets). Tribeca films will distribute "Lightning," which opens in limited theaters.
