Most people would have a hard time believing this statement, but the NHL Lockout could be over by tonight according to a number of sources.

TSN states that the union and league are prepared for a marathon session that could stretch late into the night as the two sides attempt to find middle ground. TSN reporter Darren Dreger asserts that "if it's as close as we're sensing it, it could be a very 'good day' according to source."

Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly said earlier, "The parties have been meeting since approximately 12:45 pm today... Slow progress is being made. We hope to continue meeting to resolve as many open issues as we possibly can in pursuit of an agreement."

Dreger's report indicates that the two sides have made concessions on the main issue: the 2013-14 salary cap. The league was asking for a $60 million cap but has since moved it to $62.5 million while the players changed their original $67 million demands to about $64.3 million.

While Dreger is still reserved about announcing the end of the lockout, Boomer Esiason has gone ahead and tweeted that the lockout is done. He tweeted that "@7BOOMERESIASON: My sources telling me, #NHL good to go. Let's get it on boys! #NYR."

This has created an uproar on Twitter among the fans:

@RealKyper: Source "tentative deal could be done within 24 hrs or #NHLPA could serve #NHL notice to disclaim early as 2day. Present meeting is huge.

@echoVista: I'm going to scream and squeal like a little girl who just got a pony for her birthday if the NHL lockout ends tonight.

@ErinSharoni: PLEASE PLEASE!! RT @tyler_diktanas: "@7BOOMERESIASON: My sources telling me, #NHL good to go. Let's get it on boys! #NYR"@ErinSharoni

@DodgersGM: I don't care what @7BOOMERESIASON says about the #NHLlockout. I'll wait till I hear the news from @RobLowe.

 ‏@Hugeshow: Reports tonight have the NHL ready to play some hockey.

‏@lucabonamici14: League has moved salary cap up to 63!!!! Could the NHL and NHLPA be reaching a deal soon!??!? #hope #wannaseeNHLSoon

@brtaus: Twitter is all over the place about #NHL season. Some say its going great; some say its going slow; still others say seasons all but gone

The NHL has been locked out for 112 days. The hope is that the puck will drop on Jan. 19 on a 48 to 52 game season.
