Days after losing the Miss Universe 2012 pageant, first-runner up Janine Tugonon has admitted that not everyone is supporting her in social media.

After Tugonon, the reigning Miss Philippines, lost the Miss Universe 2012 crown to Miss USA Olivia Culpo last week, Twitter exploded with comments from users saying that Tugonon, who was a crowd favorite, should have won.

However, Tugonon, 23, told a Philippines-based news station ANC's "Headstart" on Monday that for all of the support that she has garnered online, she has also received her share of negative comments.

"There are also beautiful but sometimes negative [comments] that I read," she said.

However, Tugonon isn't paying such criticism any mind, saying that she is trying to stay "always positive."

While part of her felt that she was going to win, Tugonon said that she doesn't feel any real disappointment about losing to Culpo, adding that it was "God's plan" for her to finish second.

Although, Tugonon did say that she felt that at least a part of Culpo's win may have come from the fact that the contest was held in the United States, and that perhaps Americans needed to find some inspiration with a little good news after the tragic shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut only days before. The shooting left dozens of young children dead.

However, Tugonon, who is a pharmacy graduate, says her sudden fame will not alter the choices that she makes going forward.
