Japanese electronics company, Panasonic, is taking Sunday's eclipse seriously. That is why not only is a group representing the company ascending to the summit of Japan's highest mountain--Mt. Fuji, 3,776 meters above sea level--but they will attempt to give humanity a closer and better view of the eclipse with the cameras they are carrying and will be using to film the phenomenon atop the renown mountain.

They will be broadcasting the eclipse via online streaming at this url as well as broadcasting their every step in their ascent towards the top.

Once in the summit, they plan to rapidly install various solar panels that will capture sunlight and will in return feed the cameras through which they plan to capture the solar annular eclipse.

Panasonic is calling the event 'Eclipse Live from Fujiyama' and uses a theme based on the phrase 'Filming the Sun, Using the Sun' to spread the word in one of its videos uploaded on YouTube.

The angle it will be providing the internet audience with, to observe the eclipse, will be a unique one but there are also other options available on the internet that will be broadcasting the event live:

Slooh Space Camera

Eclipse Time:
The eclipse begins at 10:06 p.m. UTC, May 20, in China and will pass through Taiwan and Japan. It will reach the central pacific ocean at 11:55 p.m. UTC, May 20.

In the U.S., the eclipse will be visible in California from 6:29 p.m. PST, May 20, pass through Nevada and stop in Texas by 7:40 p.m. PST.

Annular solar eclipses don't really block the sun's rays completely since the moon, in this type of eclipse, will appear smaller--four percent smaller specifically speaking in this case. Instead of seeing the moon finely outlined by a line of light, you'll see a moon outlined by a thicker crown or ring of fire.

The best cities to appreciate the annular eclipse (with an appropriate and safe telescope ideally) are the following:

- Guangzhou, China
- Tokyo and Yokohama, Japan
- Redding, California
- Reno, Nevada
- Albuquerque, New Mexico
