Microsoft could be expanding their Surface tablet range with the assistance of Nokia.

A report stated that Nokia will be producing a 10-inch display tablet utilizing the Windows RT operating system used in the Microsoft Surface.

According to DigiTimes, Nokia will use the help of Qualcomm and Compal Electronics to make the new tablet come into fruition.

Nothing is confirmed, but the report adds that Nokia plans to debut the new Windows RT tablet at the 2013 Mobile World Congress, which is touted as the world's largest exhibition, conference, and networking event for leading mobile operators and manufacturers, taking place in Barcelona, Spain from Feb. 25 to 28.

"Nokia originally planned to develop a 10-inch Windows RT tablet equipped with Qualcomm's S4 processor in first-quarter 2012, with Compal to undertake ODM production and initial shipments of 200,000 units to test the market, the sources indicated," stated DigiTimes in their report. "But because Microsoft later announced Surface, and the market for Windows 8/RT tablets needed to be proven, Nokia internally focused on smartphones, and delayed the development of the 10-inch Windows RT tablet."

The report comes after speculation on three new Surface tablets surfaced, no pun intended.

As Latinos Post covered, "MS_nerd" stated three new tablets will launch in 2013, including:

- The Surface RT 2 with 8.6-inch display and Qualcomm chipset. The use of Qualcomm is new compared to the current NVIDIA Tegra chip used in the current Surface with Windows RT tablet.

- A Surface with Windows 8 Pro with 11.6-inch display and will use the AMD "Temash" APU (accelerated processing unit) instead of the Intel Core i5 CPU (central processing unit) that the upcoming January launch will have.

- A Surface tablet called the "Surface Book" with 14.6-inch display and will use an Intel chip.

A confirmed new tablet will be released next month - the Surface with Windows 8 Pro. The starting price of the Windows 8 Pro tablet starts at $899 for the 64GB model and $999 for the 128GB model.
