Beauties from 89 countries will compete for the title of Miss Universe 2012 on Wednesday night in a pageant hosted by NBC and Telemundo from the Planet Hollywood resort and Casino in Las Vegas.

The 61st annual pageant, which will begin at 8 p.m. EST, will be hosted by Bravo's Andy Cohen and E! New's Giuliana Rancic. Eleven celebrity judges will choose the next winner to take over for Miss Universe 2011 Leila Lopes from Angola. Judges will include 'The Voice' judge Cee Lo Green, former 'America's Next Top Model' judge Nigel Barker, 'Keeping Up With The Kardashians' reality star Scott Disick and Mexican Miss Universe 2010 Ximena Navarrete.

The Associated Press reported that the 89 contestants have spent the past two weeks in Las Vegas preparing for the competition. The U.S. will be represented to the newly crowned Miss USA Olivia Culpo, a Boston University student and Rhode Island native.

Last year's winner, Leila Lopes from Angola, is the first winner from her country and the fourth from Africa to win the title, the Miss Universe website stated. According to HuffPost Latino Voces, there have been six Latina winners in the last decade.
